5-Minute CRUD with ColdFusion, LiveCycle and ColdFusion

ColdFusion,Flex,Flash,LiveCycle,Adobe,CRUD,Breeze,Connect I finally got a good recording of my presentation on 5-Minute CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on Breeze! This demo was doomed, for some odd reason, as every other time I was plagued with bad audio, messed up recordings, or demos that didn’t work right. I gave a presentation to the ColdFusion Online Meetup Group [...]

Amazon’s EC2 and ColdFusion / FMS

Amazon,AMI,EC2,ColdFusion,AWS This last weekend I finally had enough time to play with Amazon’s Web Services (AWS).  Amazon Web Services are a set of pay-for utilities that allow developers (among others) to host files, products, or servers in Amazon’s cloud.  At last month’s Mid-Michigan ColdFusion User’s Group meeting, there was a presentation from Rick Mason on [...]

Speaking at the Queensland CFUG tomorrow

I will be doing a remote usergroup meeting for the Queensland CFUG, out of Brisbane City, in Austrilia tomorrow (4/8 @ 5:30 am EST..  I forget what time that is in upside-down land…) on LiveCycle Data Services (LCDS).  If you want to join along, email me at nick@theflexgroup.org — This will be broadcast live via [...]

Why are you NOT using LiveCycle DS?

Adobe,LiveCycle,LCDS,FDS,ColdFusion Every time I show one of my demos at a usergroup meeting, or just with a customer, the sound of jaws dropping is something I’ve gotten used to.  It is not because of the fancy graphics, or the bug-free code (this is where the people who actually have seen my demos start laughing), but [...]

BlueDragon CFML engine open-sourced!

Since this is the second-best supported CFML engine out there, this is pretty big news.  No longer will the cost of running a CFML server be the largest deterrent to people going to CFML.  The OSS crowd will like this announcement too http://www.newatlanta.com/corporate/news/bluedragon_opensource_announce.jsp

AIR,Flex,AJAX,Open Source,BlaseDS,Apollo As expected, and noted in my previous Blog entry, Adobe made some big announcements today including: Adobe Flex 3 — The RIA application framework used to design the latest Internet applications deployed to the cross-platform Flash Player. Adobe Flex Open Source — Adobe has announced that the Flex Framework, and SDK will are [...]

Speaking at 360|Flex in Atlanta!

360|Flex,Atlanta,Flex I will be speaking at 360|Flex in Atlanta, this coming February (25th – 27th). I will be discussing An Introductory to OOP (Object Oriented Programming) principals, and how they relate in Flex.  I will be showing some code, but most of the talk will be theory.  That’s ok, because we all need theory to do descent [...]

Published!

FAQU,Adobe,Flex,ColdFusion My two articles finally shipped in the newest FAQU!   I wrote two pieces on utilizing Flex with Coldfusion:  Business Reporting and Printing, and an article on doing CRUD work with a database.  I will be posting code samples here as soon as I unpack my bags from MAX
